National 5+1 Psychologist Registration Program
The College of Professional Psychology 5+1 Internship Program provides everything you need to meet Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) requirements and become a confident, capable, and practice-ready psychologist.
This comprehensive, all-inclusive program combines supervision, education and training, exam preparation, and placement support, guided by a team of expert supervisors and learning specialists.
Program Components
1. Supervision: Expert Guidance for Growth
Structured to fully meet 5+1 supervision requirements, support your skill development and practice readiness.
- 62 hours of individual supervision (at least 50 with your Principal Supervisor)
- 24 hours of monthly group supervision
- Flexible scheduling across all Australian time zones
Learn with and from a diverse team of Board-approved supervisors who bring expertise across multiple psychology fields. Access secondary supervisors to explore career pathways, prepare for the National Psychology Exam, and deepen your professional identity.
2. Learning Essentials – Building Competence and Confidence
Fifteen core modules combining live, interactive practicums and self-directed study deliver over 90 hours of rich, applied learning. Mapped to the Psychology Board’s core competencies, Code of Conduct, and National Psychology Exam curriculum, Learning Essentials bridges the gap between theory and practice, building reflective, ethical, and effective early-career psychologists.
3. National Psychology Exam Boot Camp – Prepare, Practice, Succeed
A complete preparation package featuring:
- 3 x 2-hour study groups led by experienced supervisors
- 5 exam preparation modules (50+ hours of content)
- Full access to the NPE reading list, key psychometric tests, practice questions, and a full-length practice exam
Designed to build knowledge, exam strategy, and confidence across all domains of the National Psychology Exam.
4. PALS Team – Placement and Learning Support
The PALS Team is your dedicated partner throughout the program, helping with placement searches, workplace challenges, supervision coordination, learning requests, and program progression. No question is too big or too small.

Supervision
We provide you with PsyBA approved principal supervisors to mentor, guide and support you with weekly individual supervision sessions. You will also have access to secondary supervisors if needed.
Group
Supervision
You will have the opportunity to attend monthly group supervision, which will allow you to expand your professional network while collaborating with peers. Additionally, it offers a unique learning experience by exposing you to diverse supervision styles and a wide spectrum of expertise among supervisors.
Professional Development
Our Professional Development modules focus on applied skills and are designed to align with the domains of the National Psychology Exam, ensuring you meet the core competencies required for registration as a psychologist. Modules cover a range of contemporary practice topics and are delivered by practicing clinicians with subject matter expertise. Our PD modules will help you build advanced skills in psychological assessment, treatment planning, intervention delivery and evaluation, and the application of ethical principles for future independent practice. Our program and learning support (PaLS) team is available and ready to check in on your progress, answer your questions and provide personalised guidance on your program. They will be able to provide you with guidance on program components, PsyBA expectations, as well as support with personal circumstances and their impact on your program.
PaLS complements the support you receive from your supervisor and facilitates the smooth and timely achievement of your general registration as a Psychologist in Australia.
PaLS can also provide job-seeking support if you don't yet have an approved job role for your internship year.
National Psychology Exam Preparation
Preparing for the National Psychology Exam can be anxiety provoking. Our comprehensive program is designed to cover the four exam domains, to support your preparation for the exam throughout the duration of your program. In addition, we offer e-learning modules, a library of exam curriculum readings, exam preparation groups and other resources, all aimed to guide and facilitate your studies and help you feel confident and prepared as you approach the exam.
